Một câu chuyện buồn kể về một sự thật, một người lính (phi công) trong chiến trường của Trân Châu Cảng đã không thể quay về cùng vợ và con. Trước lúc hi sinh, anh đã kịp nhắn nhủ với người bạn thân nhất của mình là hãy thay mình chăm sóc, bảo vệ và yêu thương họ (cả hai cùng yêu một cô gái). Anh ra đi khi còn rất trẻ, chưa kịp hưởng thụ cuộc sống hạnh phúc bên vợ con mình. Cuối bộ phim người bạn đã thực hiện đúng tâm nguyện của anh. Cảnh kết là cảnh Rafe (tên người bạn) hỏi xem người con (tên Danny, đặt như tên cha đẻ) là có muốn bay lên không và họ đã cùng nhau bay vào ánh mặt trời.
